Visit the Edison & Ford Winter Estates for a Time Machine Experience

Five historic structures dot the 20-acre property, including the winter residences of Thomas Edison and Henry Ford, which are furnished. The refurbished Research Laboratory and Museum provide light on Edison’s numerous creations. Visit the tropical gardens and snap a picture in front of the massive banyan tree.

Take a refreshing dip at the water park.

Alligators and waterfowl may be found at Lakes Regional Park’s 300 acres of natural lakes. Take a stroll around the park’s paths, hire a bike or a 6-seater Surrey and go out on the open road. Visitors near the Whistle Stop Café may rent kayaks, pedal boats, and even electric ones. The kids will blast on the miniature railroad at the Splash Park with water slides and fountains.

An Exciting Day at the Beach

Four miles of sugar-white sand and warm Gulf waves await you at Fort Myers Beach. As long as the wind blows, it’s never too hot or too cold. Surf, paddleboard, or enjoy a parasail ride while relaxing on the beach on a beach chair or seeing dolphins. Lynn Hall Memorial Park Beach is only a short walk from the Pier.

Walking on the Boardwalk

Six Mile Cypress Slough Preserve is a great place to learn about the natural flora of Fort Myers, Florida. Free spotter guides are available at the superb Interpretive Center of this non-profit attraction while you stroll the boardwalk’s mile-long length. Turtles, geese, nesting herons, egrets, woodpeckers, and playful river otters may all be seen from the ponds’ lookouts.
